- Description
- Underground mining environment poses unique challenges for power electronics based motor drives. In addition to high performance, the expectations include minimization of conducted and radiated EMI, and satisfying specific safety standards and regulations. It is argued in this paper that Model Predictive Control (MPC) used with AC motor drives can meet these challenges, due to its flexible and multi-objective nature. This paper proposes solutions to overcome the existing barriers in MPC application to AC drives. It aims to develop a high performance AC drive that minimizes conducted and radiated EMI, and suppresses harmonic resonances. The results are supported by simulations and experiments.
